On 18 April planning permission was granted for the redevelopment of part of the former Maze/Long Kesh prison site into a peace building and conflict resolution centre. Nesbitt and Poots discuss unionist attitudes to the plans for the new centre with particular reference to the legacy of Bobby Sands and the 1981 hunger strikers.
