Transcript of an interview with Ronnie Flanagan, former Chief Constable of the PSNI, by David Frost for BBC Breakfast with Frost on 13 January 2002. Between 9 and 10 January rioting broke out in north Belfast between Catholic and Protestant communities, prompted by disturbances outside the Catholic Holy Cross Primary School in Ardoyne. On 12 January Daniel McColgan, a Catholic postal worker, was shot dead by the UDA. Flanagan responds to these incidents and discusses the PSNI'S policing responsibilities in Northern Ireland. Anti-sectarian rallies were later held across Northern Ireland on 18 January. Breakfast with Frost was a weekly BBC current affairs programme.
