Video interview with a spokesperson for the Unionist Party for RTE News in April 1969. In January of that year Brian Faulkner and William Morgan resigned from Terence O'Neill's administration over the issue of the latter's support for political reform. Twelve members of the Unionist Party also wrote an open letter to O'Neill calling for a change of leadership. In the subsequent February election O’Neill narrowly retained his seat at Stormont. The Unionist Party spokesperson announces that the parliamentary party had passed a resolution adopting the principle of universal adult franchise at the next local government election. Under pressure, Terence O’Neill resigned as Prime Minister of Northern Ireland only a few days later.
