On the night of 10 August violence erupted in central Belfast as a loyalist counter-demonstration sought to prevent a dissident republican rally take place in the city. Fifty-six PSNI officers were injured in the disturbances. Members of the PSNI had been injured in several incidents relating to parading during the summer of 2013.
