Interview with Winston Irvine and Joe Marley by Stephen Nolan for BBC Radio Ulster The Nolan Show on 22 July 2013

Published:

Audio interview with Winston Irvine, PUP Director of Communications, and Joe Marley, member of the Crumlin Ardoyne Residents Association, by Stephen Nolan for BBC Radio Ulster the Nolan Show on 22 July 2013. On 9 July the Parades Commission ruled that an Orange Order parade could not pass through the Ardoyne area of Belfast on its return journey on 12 July, a decision which led to clashes between protesters and the PSNI in north and east Belfast for several days. On 18 July the Parades Commission rejected an application from the Orange Order to march through the Ardoyne area two days later. A peaceful demonstration against this decision was subsequently held along police lines in Belfast on that date while the Orange Order promised a continued campaign of protest. Irvine and Marley discuss the significance of the demonstrations and the future of the Parades Commission. The Nolan Show is a daily current affairs programme on BBC Radio Ulster.
