Video interviews with Bairbre de Brún (Sinn Fein MLA for Belfast West), Jim Rodgers (UUP Victoria DEA councillor on Belfast City Council) and attendees at an Orange Order Belfast parade for ITN on 12 July 1999. Tensions were high between local communities in Northern Ireland following disputes over the annual Drumcree march and the ongoing political debate over decommissioning. Five days earlier the Orange Order had decided to change its 12 July parade rallying point to Ormeau Park in protest at an earlier Parades Commission ruling. Three days later the Parades Commission permitted the parade to pass through that area. The interviewees discuss the importance of the parading tradition and its impact on local communities.
