Video interviews with Bernadette Devlin (Unity MP for Mid Ulster), Ivan Cooper (Independent Nationalist MP for Mid-Derry) and Graham Shillington (Deputy Inspector General of the RUC), by Reg Cullen for RTE News in April 1969. In August 1968 the Northern Ireland Civil Rights movement began public marches in support of its objectives, causing community tensions between Catholics and Protestants in cities such as Derry/Londonderry. Serious rioting broke out in that city in April 1969, after clashes between NICRA supporters, loyalists and the RUC following the banning of a march by the Stormont government. Devlin, Cooper and Shillington discuss the violent scenes in Derry/Londonderry.
