Video interviews with David Trimble, designate First Minister of Northern Ireland, and Gerry Adams, president of Sinn Fein, for ITN on 1 July 1999. As multi-party talks at Stormont continued on the timing of decommissioning and the formation of a power-sharing Executive twenty-four hours after the initial 30 June deadline, Trimble and Adams set out their respective positions. One day later the British and Irish governments published ‘The Way Forward’, a document setting out a process for the formation of the Executive on 15 July and the beginning of decommissioning soon after.
