Video interviews with Gerry Adams (president of Sinn Fein), Martin McGuinness (designate Northern Ireland Minister of Education), David Trimble (designate First Minister of Northern Ireland) for ITN on 15 February 2000. Four days earlier Peter Mandelson suspended devolved government and returned direct rule to Northern Ireland over the continued impasse on IRA decommissioning and the potential resignation of David Trimble as First Minister of Northern Ireland. As talks continued between the British and Irish governments and Northern Ireland’s principal parties in an attempt to restore devolved government, Adams, McGuinness and Trimble assess their potential for success.
