Video interview with Patrick Mayhew, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, and David Trimble, UUP MP for Upper Bann, for ITN on 19 April 1994. Earlier that day police raids took place on addresses in Great Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland as part of a multi-jurisdictional operation against IRA financial organisation. Operation Madronna came ten days after the IRA ended its three day military ceasefire and during a period of political uncertainty in which the republican movement had not yet committed to the Downing Street Declaration. Mayhew and Trimble discuss the significance of this police operation.
