Two months into the devolution of power to the Northern Ireland institutions, little progress had been made on the issue of IRA decommissioning prompting suggestions that David Trimble could resign as First Minister of Northern Ireland. The interviewees discuss the current impasse on arms decommissioning and the potential impact of Trimble’s resignation. The news item also includes footage of John de Chastelain’s comments on decommissioning in November 1999.
