Press Conference with Margaret Thatcher and Dr Garret FitzGerald after signing the Anglo Irish Agreement at Hillsborough Castle on 15 November 1985

Joint press conference with Margaret Thatcher and Garret FitzGerald on the day of the signing of the Anglo-Irish Agreement. Both premiers are questioned by journalists on the content of the Anglo-Irish Agreement. They detail that the agreement has three elements – a commitment to the validity of the two traditions in Northern Ireland, the principle whereby a United Ireland can only come about by consent of all the people in Northern Ireland and the establishment of an intergovernmental conference with a permanent secretariat.
