ARK provides access to source material that informs social and political debate in Northern Ireland and raises the profile of social science research. It is aimed at researchers, policymakers, journalists, community and other voluntary groups, and students. It provides a variety of different kinds of information including background facts and figures, survey results, research reports, research summaries, audio-visual material, and election results. ARK has four main areas of work: Surveys; Conflict, Politics and Elections; Policy Research and Resources; and Outreach, Dissemination and Training.

Strengths:

Qualitative Archive on the Conflict – holds information on qualitative material covering the 35 year span of the ‘troubles’ in Northern Ireland (content, availability, recording format, etc.) and presents it in a searchable catalogue.

Online Research Bank – collection of searchable databases containing bibliographies and summaries of research.
