The RTE Libraries and Archives houses Ireland’s largest collection of audio visual material and the collections consist of radio and television programmes, still images, production files, scripts, music scores and manuscripts. There are samples of what is available in the archives free to view online. However, most of the material is housed at the Archives in RTÉ, and a fee to view the archives applies. Online, there are 813 images available for Northern Ireland. Three sections online are particularly relevant for the study of the peace process:

  1. Northern Ireland 1969 – includes audio and audio-visual clips of the Stormont election, the election campaign, Bernadette Devlin’s campaign in Mid-Ulster, the resignation of Terence O’Neill as Prime Minister and the appointment of Chichester-Clark, growing tension and the riots of August 1969.
  2. Civil Rights Movement 1968-69 – includes audio and visual clips of the Caledon squat, the Coalisland-Dungannon march, 5 October in Derry/Londonderry, Terence O’Neill’s television address, the People’s Democracy march from Belfast to Derry and the Cameron Report.

There is also a 'People' section, detailing individuals who feature in the exhibitions from RTÉ Archives. Included are Ronald Bunting, Ivan Cooper, Austin Currie, William Craig, Brian Faulkner, Gerry Fitt, Garret FitzGerald, John Hume, Bernadette McAliskey (née Devlin), Eddie McAteer, Terence O'Neill and Ian Paisley.
