Dr Phillips comments on the treatment of 300 UN military monitors in Syria appear in an article for Interdependent.com. He says: “We still hear repeated reports of the regime shepherding the monitors to certain areas and blocking access. They were also not allowed the helicopters they were pushing for earlier. But they don’t have the numbers to override the regime, who are playing a game with them. It is not unlike the situation with the arms inspectors in the 90s with Saddam Hussein.”
