The School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) continues to be one of the foremost departments in the UK for the quality of research it produces, according to results in the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) published on the 18th December 2014. The 2014 REF exercise put the School of Politics and International Relations submission in the top 20 Politics and International Relations departments in the UK for research intensity*.
SPIR was judged to provide an internationally excellent environment for research. Three-quarters of all research outputs submitted were of world-leading or internationally excellent quality. This ranks SPIR 14th in the UK among Politics and International Studies departments for the production of world leading and internationally excellent work. The significance of SPIR research is also demonstrated in the degree of its impact in the world of politics and policy, which was also judged to be largely of world-leading or internationally excellent quality.
SPIR is proud to be part of one of the REF's top 10 multi-faculty universities, reflecting QMUL’s place in the highest tier of research-led Higher Education Institutions in the UK.
