Introduction
The School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) at Queen Mary University of London welcomes expressions of interest from potential postdoctoral researchers with an excellent track record, to apply jointly with a research supervisor from SPIR to the European Commission Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship Scheme. Selected candidates will be provided with nominated academic support at SPIR, and assistance from the EU Unit, Joint Research Management Office with regards to proposal development.
Award
The Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowships is a prestigious European funding scheme that supports mobility, career development, and training within and beyond Europe, and offer 2-3 years’ highly competitive salary, a mobility allowance, family allowance and research costs.

The planned opening date for the call is 12 April 2016, and the final deadline date for applications is 14 September 2016.
All expressions of interest must meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme. In particular, applicants must not have resided or carried out the main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals, if wanting to apply for the European Fellowship pathway (MSCA-IF-EF).
Research Areas
SPIR boasts a dynamic mix of approaches to research in politics and IR, including: public policy; political economy; securitisation; global governance; US foreign policy; contemporary political theory; area specialisms (the Balkans, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific), and post-colonialism. This will be complemented by excellent infrastructure in the School and across campuses and SPIR is strongly committed to the career professional development of staff, and is also supported by the QMUL Centre for Academic and Professional Development.

Expressions of interest will be selected based on the quality of the research idea and the candidate will be invited to make a formal application with their SPIR supervisor; the results of which will be announced around the end of May 2016.
