Professor Tim Bale writes for The Times about the slim possibility of avoiding a hard Brexit. He writes: “The only thing that could possibly convince enough Labour and Tory MPs to think again is a major shift in public opinion rooted, firstly, in the belief that the government is incapable of cobbling together a deal with the EU and, secondly, and even more importantly, a serious economic shock.
