Queen Mary alumna, Mercy Muroki, published an article for The Times, built on research she co-authored with Queen Mary’s Dr Philip Cowley, where she argues that Labour must stop its demonisation of ethnic minority Tories. She writes: “The deplorable “Uncle Tom” characterisation of successful black and brown Conservatives that the left peddles only acts to harm, not help the representation debate. While tokenism does exist, the left’s obsession with framing the advancements of every non-white politician as tokenism buttresses the racist idea that those people are incapable of achieving as highly as their white counterparts through legitimate means.”Find out more
