Speaker John Bercow has thrown the UK's Brexit plans into further confusion by ruling out another vote on the PM's deal unless MPs are given a new motion. Professor Tim Bale spoke to Bloomberg Television about Bercow’s decision. He said: “I think they [the government] must have thought of it, but I suspect they thought the Speaker wouldn’t dare do it because it's such a controversial thing to do. There has been bad blood between this Speaker and the rest of the Conservative Party for quite some time actually, and I think the government probably assumed that this Speaker, although he can be awkward at times, would probably in the end allow the government to do what it wanted to do.”
