Lecturer in Politics, Dr Patrick Diamond, appeared on Sky News Lunchtime Live’s rolling coverage of the Queen’s speech, to provide commentary on the events unfolding. When asked whether it was appropriate to be holding a Queen’s speech amidst the current political climate, Dr Diamond said: “Well it has to happen I think, after two years without a Queen’s speech, the Government has to put forward a legislative agenda of some sort. They’re doing it I think, because they’re trying to set up the platform for an election. That’s what today is about, it’s about having an agenda which they can go to the country with.”Clip unavailable
