Professor Tim Bale, from Queen Mary of London, was invited to speak with BBC Radio 4 about Boris Johnson's 'New Deal' speech, whether this hit the mark with former Labour voters and what new Labour leader, Sir Keir Starmer, could do to win them back. He said: "While it's very clear that Labour are quite a long way from many of those people whose votes they need to get back on those social and cultural values, it's harder to see what exactly Labour has to do to signal to them that it's back in touch with them."
