Professors Tim Bale and Philip Cowley from Queen Mary’s School of Politics and International Relations have written an opinion piece for City AM where they discuss the latest findings from Mile End Institute public opinion polling. They write: “Except for updates on the coronavirus, no ministerial appearance these days is complete without mention of the government’s professed intention to “level up” […] If you’re not raising taxes, and you say that you don’t want to borrow too much more, then additional spending in one area presumably has to come at the expense of spending in another.
