The Guardian has reported how Freshers’ week this year is going to be very different from any other year and how experience will vary across institutions. Tim Bale, Professor of Politics at Queen Mary University of London has commented on how ‘low key fresher’s experiences’ have been on the cards for a while. Bale said: “There have been quite a lot of changes over the past few years and there’s less emphasis from on events that involve alcohol. Universities are becoming more diverse, and events based around drinking can be alienating and off-putting.”
