Reader in International Relations, Dr Christopher Phillips appeared on the LBC: Eddie Mair programme to discuss the ongoing struggles in Syria. Dr Phillips said: “It is an incredibly difficult and complex situation unfortunately. While the international media have finally come around to looking at Idlib, this is a crisis that has been going on for nine years now. There have been millions of refugees in Syria that we are all aware of and the international community has done very little up until now to call a ceasefire in the war as a whole. So the idea that they’re suddenly going to be able to achieve those goals in Idlib seems very unlikely.”
