Professor Bale provided analysis of what the public can expect after the appointment of Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister and compared the differences between his policies and those during the tenure of Liz Truss."There's this idea that he [Rishi Sunak] is more centrist than Liz Truss but if you look back at some of the things that he did as Chancellor of the Exchequer, except for furlough, you actually see that he is a pretty thorough going Thatcherite - the difference between him and Liz Truss is that he wanted to balance the books before making tax cuts," Tim Bale, professor of politics said.
