Professor Bale has written a Letter to the Editor published in The Times on the trend towards MPs increasingly having local roots: "Our research on the members of six British parties shows that 83 per cent of them would like more MPs “who come from the area they represent”. That figure is lower for the Tory rank and file but it is still 72 per cent. It is to be hoped that Hague’s warning gives them pause for thought."
