Lawyers of the Future - Law 3.0
Law and technology is a phrase that is becoming more and more common within the legal marketplace and postgraduate law students at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) will now have an opportunity to work on emerging technologies at Lexoo, a ‘disruptive’ legal start-up.
Students from qLegal, a legal incubator that provides advice to tech start-ups and entrepreneurs at QMUL’s Legal Advice Centre will undertake an externship programme at Lexoo that will focus on Lexoo’s business model and processes. Students will work closely with Lexoo and qLegal staff to draft a detailed report on one aspect of the start-up’s business. Students will also be encouraged to reflect on legal skills and careers within technology and legal services.
Patrick Cahill, qLegal Solicitor said “The legal marketplace is changing rapidly, particularly with developments in technology. We haven’t even scratched the surface of disruptive legal tech in the UK and opportunities, like the Lexoo externship provide an opportunity for students to learn first-hand about these developments in the sector.”
Daniel van Binsbergen, CEO, at Lexoo, said “We’re delighted to give the next generation of legal minds a unique insight into Lexoo’s processes and start-up culture, so they themselves can help re-invent the law in their future careers.
