Pro Bono Panel Event

qLegal’s first event was a dynamic panel discussion and subsequent speed networking session. Moderated by Karen Watton, Senior Lecturer and qLegal Director, the panel featured volunteers from qLegal's partner law firms, including alumni. Toby Brown, the chair of the Pro Bono Week organising committee, was also in attendance.

The engaging session concluded with valuable advice for students on optimising their qLegal experience. The speed networking provided students with an interactive platform to share experiences and seek insights from the panellists.

The panel featured lawyers from qLegal’s partner law firms and in-house teams, including Sidley Austin, CMS, Morrison Foerster, Wiggin, Hargreaves Lansdown and Morgan Lewis.

The Legal Bake

Continuing the Pro Bono Week festivities, qLegal took part in the Legal Bake on Tuesday, 14 November, raising over £370 for the Access to Justice Foundation and the London Legal Support Trust. qLegal students baked goods and volunteered at our stand and we also received donations of treats from Redemption Roasters, Fabrique and Nine Bars. This initiative contributes to the vital cause of enhancing access to legal advice across the UK.

Global Day of Action

As the week concluded, qLegal turned its attention to climate justice on the Clinic Global Day of Action which coincided with QMUL’s Sustainability Week, in the leadup to COP28. Staff and students shared personal pledges, emphasising a collective commitment to environmental responsibility.

These events not only showcase qLegal's dedication to pro bono initiatives but also highlight its broader mission of empowering the next generation of lawyers to create positive change in the world. With each engaging event, qLegal continues to make a meaningful impact in the legal landscape.
