One of qLegal’s longest running partners is Ada National College of Digital Skills, a sixth-form college and apprenticeship programme with a mission “to educate and empower the next generation of diverse digital talent.” Every year, qLegal students present four legal education workshops to Ada sixth-form students on topics such as “Computer Games and the Law”, “Social Media and the Law” and “Cybersecurity and the Law”.
These workshops provide qLegal students with a great opportunity to apply their knowledge of IP and Data Privacy Law to cutting edge legal questions and to present legal concepts and information in an interactive, accessible way to an engaged, tech-savvy audience. Our workshops are also designed to meet the curricular needs of the Ada students and their teachers. qLegal has been delivering these workshops for many years and is very proud of our partnership with Ada.
On the 10 October 2023, Eliza and Ozlem attended the opening of Ada’s beautiful new campus in Victoria. The size of the new campus will allow the school to house its sixth-form college and its apprenticeship programmes under one roof. Ada also has a campus with similar programmes in Manchester. The event was scheduled on Ada Lovelace Day to celebrate the school’s namesake, the English mathematician and writer credited with first realising that computers could be used to do more than just calculate. A panel of women working in technology, including two recent Ada graduates, discussed the challenges and opportunities they have experienced in their careers and stressed the breadth and variety of jobs in the technology field. There is wonderful synergy between Ada’s mission to nurture the next generation of digital talent and qLegal’s mission to help the next generation of lawyers help the next generation of clients to create value in the world.
