Transnational education

Global engagement is at the heart of everything we do at Queen Mary. Our transnational education programmes help to ensure that everyone who has the potential is able to access a Queen Mary education without necessarily coming to London.

Support for educators

We support educators who work on transnational education (TNE) programmes to explore the benefits and challenges of delivering education in collaboration with international partners. This includes collaborating on induction resources for those new to TNE and providing bespoke workshops for TNE educators and their colleagues from partner institutions.

TNE programmes may employ any number of pedagogical theories to address the needs of their learners. Here is a collection of resources to support staff to deliver TNE.

  • Queen Mary Academy's Resources for Educators.
  • Our workshop on Intercultural Teaching and Learning Strategies can help TNE educators to improve communication and inclusivity. Dates for 2023/24 will be published soon.
  • The BUPT-QMUL Joint Teaching and Learning Centre is an excellent source for scholarship in TNE created by Queen Mary educators and their colleagues.
  • Though most TNE programmes are offered in-person, Mixed Mode Education can broaden opportunities for collaboration between practitioners and learners. Our MME toolkit is a useful resource to help educators to adapt their teaching to actively engage students learning in-person and online simultaneously.
