Luigi has been an Investment Manager for 10 years in London and Boston. He has invested on behalf of institutional clients in the sovereign, credit and currency markets through a broad range of alpha strategies including hedge funds.
He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (Bologna), a MSc in Financial Economics (SOAS, London) and a PhD in Economics (SOAS, London) with fieldwork at the Central Bank of Peru. He lectured finance, macroeconomics and econometrics (undergraduate and postgraduate) at City University and at the School of Oriental and African Studies. Luigi's research interests span from macroeconomics and finance for emerging markets to inequality.
Luigi is one of the co-founder of Teaching with Historical Perspectives. He believes that the history of a discipline is an essential pedagogical tool. This is true for Economics (a science that has tended to forget its own history) as well as for other disciplines, to lead students to become critically aware of the origins, strengths and limitations of their discipline and how in their evolution there have been continuity or discontinuity.
