Acting as a mentor and reviewer for the Teaching Recognition Programme is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my role. I love finding out about all the creative and innovative ideas that colleagues are using in their teaching practice! I also enjoy helping them to reflect on those experiences and write about them in a way that demonstrates their successes in line with the Professional Standards Framework. It’s really rewarding to work closely with someone as a mentor, crafting and developing their application together, and to see them recognized for their achievements.
As both mentor and reviewer I feel part of a community of colleagues who are passionate about providing supportive opportunities for professional development in education. I feel strongly that educational development should always be supportive and developmental; as reviewers we want colleagues to achieve Fellowship and I really like the positive approach that is taken through the Queen Mary Teaching Recognition Programme.
