As part of my Student Selected Component during year 2 of the MBBS course, I worked with Dr. Lujain Alsadder from the physiology team to develop and assess the effectiveness of a new education tool. The tools aim was to assist medical students in enhancing their understanding of the cardiac axis. To achieve this the tool utilised a novel method developed by me and Dr. Alsadder that can reconstruct the 3-dimensional current vector of the heart from the existing Electrocardiography leads. The analysis of the results revealed that the tool enhances the students understanding of Electrocardiography and of the heart’s physiology.
