I was one of the student members of the SEED Working Group which was a team of students and staff working together to create the SEED Award. My role on the working group was to provide a student angle, and to provide some idea of how students already contribute so much towards the student experience and education at the University. Students and staff then worked together to work out exactly how to capture these experiences, and provide some level of support and meaningful award for the work students do. It was a rewarding experience being part of a team of students and staff who worked seamlessly together, and who empowered each other to make the most of our respective experience. The result was an award scheme which I hope will continue to recognise the valuable work students bring to their own education, and perhaps even encourage more students to do the same going forward.
