I am a year three student involved in Peer-led Team Learning (PLTL), where I was a senior assistant for BUS 267 – Working with Business Data. As a senior assistant, I organized students in different sessions, replied to emails, and actively communicated with the professor and seminar leaders.
At first, teaching students was challenging as people have different ways of learning. Therefore, I asked students individually which way they preferred to learn, and using the feedback, I created PowerPoints, worksheets, and formula sheets. By utilizing the method, I received positive feedback from students, and these comments were encouraging, as it made me feel that I was positively impacting students learning.
Additionally, being part of the PLTL has increased my confidence, time-management, and communication skills, which is crucial in the future. Furthermore, within the PLTL sessions, the questions students asked were extremely helpful as they enabled me to realize the gaps in my knowledge and my passion for utilizing quantitative data.
If anyone has the opportunity to join the PLTL program, I will highly recommend it!
