During my general practice (GP) placement in my final year of medical school, I had the invaluable opportunity to teach third-year medical students and support their learning, through co-creation of a near-peer teaching curriculum. In collaboration with my GP tutor, I designed and delivered interactive tutorials on relevant clinical topics as well as observing and providing feedback to students performing core clinical skills, such as history taking and clinical examination. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, which allowed me to develop my own clinical knowledge, enhance my teaching skills and contribute to the learning experience of current and future junior colleagues.
