During my time as Course Representative, I received lots of feedback from my cohort both in-person and online. I would raise this feedback to the Student Voice Committee and make suggestions on how to efficiently resolve these issues. However, a recurring problem was that the majority of the feedback would be from the same students. This prevented me from getting a wider idea on how to help all students improve their academic experience. To overcome this, I created an anonymous feedback form, consisting of both short and long answer questions, to provide my cohort with an opportunity to reflect on their Year 2 experience. 69.5% of the participants felt supported by their Course Representative, with some positive remarks being ‘they are the best’ and ‘she’s done a very good job of putting herself out there to be known if someone needs her support’ as well as multiple nominations for the Science & Engineering Course Rep of the Year Award. The positive feedback felt rewarding as I was recognised for making an impact at Queen Mary, and I used the negative feedback as constructive criticism to adapt and improve how I tackle problems in the future.
