Recently I learned of the death of one of my most recent PhD students, Anggoro Prasetyo, from a sudden aggressive leukaemia. He died on 20 February 2010, just one week after falling ill. Anggoro worked mostly at the Natural History Museum, but appeared in the SBCS from time to time to give his postgraduate seminar talks. He completed his thesis and graduated last year, before taking up a post as the resident termite taxonomist in the state-of-the-art Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) in Bogor, Java. He leaves a wife and two young children. Anggoro's research was focused on the taxonomy of two genera of processionary termites common in SE Asian forests (Hospitalitermes and Lacessititermes), which he reviewed and revised, but he was also an accomplished field biologist and had extensively sampled the termites of Indonesian Borneo (Kalimantan). This material was to have been the basis of his future work at LIPI. It is a very tragic loss on all levels.David Bignell
