Dianne Abbott MP opens SBCS Science Expo for Schools

Dianne Abbott MP opened the SBCS Science Expo for Schools entitled, ‘Why are we scientists?’ held at Queen Mary on Wednesday 23 June 2010. She told the 16-18 year old students from around London that 'There is no substitute for top class education' and described how her experiences at Cambridge University had shaped her life. During the morning, there were presentations about the excellent research taking place in the SBCS, including: generating energy from sunshine, understanding addiction and drug dependence and controlling the risk of bacterial infection in schools, hospitals and petting zoos.
