On Monday 30 April, the Department of Chemistry at Queen Mary University of London hosted a Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) focus group.

The focus group followed on from RSC’s significant report on ‘Diversity landscape of the chemical sciences’, published in February 2018, that drew together some of the available data and evidence about the current state of diversity in the UK chemical sciences, identifying gaps and questions that still need to be answered.

The focus group at Queen Mary involved female Chemistry PhD students and participants from various Chemistry Departments around the UK who came together to contribute their ideas and experiences to this important piece of research.
Professor Marina Resmini, Head of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences (SBCS) is a member of the RSC Inclusion and Diversity committee and she is currently involved in the project.
