Why did you choose to study at Queen Mary over other universities?

The course modules looked very appealing; the diversity of students was very attractive. I liked that Queen Mary is a London university with a contained campus. The variety of societies and the big student communities also appealed to me as I am very big on having a social/uni work life balance.

Why did you pick this course?

I really enjoy Biology and Chemistry so wanted a course that would integrate my interest for both and allow me to have multiple career options after graduating.

How have you found the teaching, research, lecturers, course content?

Teaching at Queen Mary has been done very well despite the challenges we have faced with the pandemic. Queen Mary has been very flexible and accommodating to every student. I have enjoyed mixed-mode learning and have found that I understand the work and am more engaged through this style of teaching. The course content while difficult at times has been very interesting and I believe it has been well structured to integrate and develop my knowledge from first year.

How have you found the support services and the facilities?

The support services at Queen Mary have been exceptional, I particularly have found my academic advisor, Dr Chris Duffy to be very supportive and has been a great constant over my time at Queen Mary. The facilities at Queen Mary such as the labs have been well advanced and up to date. The various facilities on campus to work in are plentiful and I believe there is a setting and environment for every student to feel comfortable in.

What do you think of the campus/es?

It’s a lovely campus, I really like that everything is so close by, the Mile End campus is very well connected to the rest of London which makes travel easy for me. There are multiple areas on campus to study which is convenient for when you want to switch up your study environment.

What has been your favorite thing about studying at Queen Mary?

My favorite thing about studying here is being a student ambassador. It has opened many doors for me, it has allowed me to meet new people, learn more about the university and experience opportunities not every student has gotten to.

What do you enjoy about your course and what has been your biggest highlight?

My biggest highlight of my course has to be working with starfish in the lab!

What advice would you give to a prospective student considering your course and Queen Mary?

Don’t worry too much about the transition from your previous school/educational setting to university as you are well supported during the jump, always remember that everyone is in the same boat too and so don’t feel like you are alone.

Are you a member of any societies, volunteering, or hold any part-time jobs, how have you found them?

I am both an SBBS student ambassador and central ambassador, I have found both very well suited to my timetable and have enjoyed my experiences in both roles thoroughly. I believe being an ambassador has helped me develop many of my interpersonal skills and would definitely recommend to any student wanting a flexible and exciting job.

Sum up your experience at Queen Mary in just four words:

Enjoyable, Diverse, Accommodating, Supported
