The Telegraph – Seven magazine
In a double-page feature for The Telegraph’s weekend magazine, Dr Hone asks what Jurassic Park got right, what science got wrong, and whether or not we will see dinosaurs again. He explains that the film – which was released 20 years ago – largely delighted palaeontologists upon its release. While the genetics at the heart of the film were “dismissed as studio hype”, scientists today are working on resurrecting the woolly mammoth, which died out almost 10,000 years ago. Dr Hone asks what could be achieved in paleotology and genetics in the next 20 years, noting that “I for one am not yet worried about the dangers of marauding tyrannosaurs”.
