The London NERC DTP is a partnership of eight prestigious research organisations across London, funded by the Natural Environment Research Council.
The DTP's aim is to attain new standards of excellence in environmental science research training, and deliver a transformative inter-disciplinary experience for PhD students in the heart of London.
Students are trained at World-leading research centres, which cover a the breadth of environmental science research, from those driven by contemporary environmental challenges to those exploring complex questions about the evolution of planet Earth.
As a member of this DTP, we offer the opportunity for students to complete their PhD project with our School. A list of example projects can be found on the London NERC DTP website, but students are also invited to contact prospective supervisors in our School to develop their own bespoke projects.
The DTP is open to home and international students and covers tuition fees and a stipend at the London UKRI rate for 4 years.
For full details of the entry criteria and application process, please see the London NERC DTP pages on how to apply. Applications must be submitted through the LIDo website and not through the Queen Mary website.
Applications for 2024/25 are now open.
