The development and adoption of novel farming methodologies will be crucial to meet humanity's global agricultural needs while preserving biodiversity and limiting the effects of climate change. However, there is no current consensus regarding best practices, nor an established set of policies encouraging sustainable agriculture. This project will study how landscape mosaics of established and novel agricultural practices; and potential policies could affect biodiversity and how biodiversity can provide agricultural ecosystem services (pollination, pest control) in return. This is achieved by adapting a powerful model of biodiversity in natural landscapes to describe agricultural landscapes.
