Dr Zhou LyuPostdoctoral Research AssistantEmail: z.lyu@qmul.ac.ukRoom Number: Bancroft Building, Room 2.11ProfileResearchProfileZhou is an Earth system modeler with expertise in terrestrial biogeochemistry modeling with a focuse on carbon dynamics. Her research goal is to use terrestrial ecosystem models and multi-source observational data to address climate change-related challenges. She joined Queen Mary in 2021 as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant working with Professor James Bradley as part of the NERC & NSF-funded SUN SPEARS project, in collaboration with British Geological Survey, University of Utah and University of Colorado. The project aims to achieve continuous year-round monitoring of processes across a High-Arctic glacier forefield, and to develop a microbial-explicit biogeochemical model to understand and describe the carbon dynamics, seasonality, and future fate of Arctic soils.ResearchResearch Interests:She earned her PhD in Earth sciences from Purdue University, focusing on quantifying the Arctic terrestrial ecosystem carbon dynamics using mechanistically-based biogeochemistry models and in situ and satellite data. Before joining Queen Mary, she was a Postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab working on introducing a comprehensive microbial- and mineral-explicit soil biogeochemical model integrated in the E3SM land model to simulate soil carbon dynamics in response to the TES SFA whole-soil-profile warming experiment.
