Profile

Francesca is a biochemist and structural biologist with expertise in studying macromolecular complexes which regulate immune signalling. She joined Queen Mary in April 2024 as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the lab of Dr. Ben Stieglitz, funded by the MRC. Her current research aims to elucidate the role of linear ubiquitin chains in inflammatory signalling, in collaboration with Dr. Aravindan Ilangovan (Queen Mary University of London) and Dr. Koraljka Husnjak (Goethe University, Frankfurt). Francesca uses cryo-electron microscopy, biochemical enzyme activity assays and biophysical methods to study the regulation of linear ubiquitin chain conjugation and to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying ubiquitin chain recognition.
