Marcus HicksPhD StudentEmail: m.a.hicks@qmul.ac.ukProfileProfileProject Title: The Plastic Nature of Oogenesis in Neotropical Butterflies Summary: Marcus is a second year PhD student utilising phenotypic, genomic and transcriptomic data to understand the role that plasticity plays in neotropical butterfly populations. In particular, he is working with two species of Catonephele butterflies, looking at how their reproductive output varies in response to a highly seasonal environment. As part of his PhD, he is producing two novel genome and transcriptome assemblies. Alongside this, Marcus is involved in Project Psyche, an international collaboration aiming to take advantage of the massive amount of genomic data produced by research organisations and use it for ecological and conservation research.
