Profile

Nayeli is a postdoctoral research assistant in Professor Elphick’s lab. She is a marine biologist with an interest in evolutionary biology, more specifically in the evolution of neuropeptide signalling systems, and phylogeny. She obtained her PhD in Biological Sciences from QMUL, with a thesis titled Evolutionary and functional genomic analysis of neuropeptide signalling in echinoderms. Currently, she is working on a project to find the “missing links” of neuropeptide signalling systems in the animal kingdom, using the common European starfish (Asterias rubens) as a model organism.
