Project title: The Role of Sensitivity in Psychopathology and Psychotherapy

Summary: A large number of studies provide empirical evidence that there are individual differences in how humans register, process and respond to environmental stimuli with some being more sensitive to their environment than others. In an attempt to integrate at least three different sensitivity theories into a single overarching meta-framework, the umbrella term Environmental Sensitivity (ES) was introduced.

Despite the trait of sensitivity being increasingly well researched, very little is actually known about the clinical implications of being more sensitive to environmental stimuli. This research project aims to extend the current knowledge about Environmental Sensitivity and psychopathology by exploring the role of Environmental Sensitivity in the treatment responses of adult patients and how it shapes their experience of psychotherapeutic treatments.
